It Is Better to Trust in the Lord Easel Card--Join Us For our First Challenge of the Year at Word Art Wednesday!

Happy New Year, Everybody!  2013 is finally here and like always, I entrust everything unto the Lord!  He has a plan for my life and there is no greater plan than that so, I rest my confidence in Jesus and Jesus alone.  I often wonder why man would trust in anything other than the God who created him.  When we buy a specific item---let's say an electronic device...We buy them specifically for their purpose, right?  We don't buy a dishwasher and use it for laundry nor we buy an oven and use it as a refrigerator.  Although people may intentionally use them for that purpose yet, one cannot expect that they'll get the best out of the product unless it's use for it's purpose.  Pretty much like us...We are created for a specific purpose here on earth and we are to operate under the power of the Holy Spirit (our power source).  Without Him,  we will simply be a useless device.  That reminds me of  the many people who taught they can attain happiness by stardom, wealth and power but a lot of them end up reaching the top and discovering there's nothing there. I submit to you that unless a person discovers the path to God's purpose in His life, nothing will satisfy.  We may imitate and act like somebody but until you recognize who you really are in Jesus Christ, your life will remain empty.

So, today, I would like to share with you the card I made out of the free Word Art we have for you to download at Word Art Wednesday (WAW).  It's about trusting in the Lord and not in man (Psalm 118:8).  It's sad because we see more and more people trusting in what government can do for them in calamities instead of calling on the Lord in whom all blessings flow.  We see this everyday in the news, people putting their trust in man and not in God.  I pray that we listen to what God said in 2 Chronicles 7:14, "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."---If we take this verse to heart and do what God told us to do, we shall see the healing of this nation in a profound way...Why?  Because He is TRUE to His every word (Numbers 23:19).   If we put our trust in man, we are destined to fail for NO MAN IS PERFECT.  Heed the warning the scriptures had to say about trusting in man...

"This is what the Lord says: “Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who draws strength from mere flesh and whose heart turns away from the Lord.  That person will be like a bush in the wastelands; they will not see prosperity when it comes.  They will dwell in the parched places of the desert,  in a salt land where no one lives." (Jeremiah 17:5-6)

Anyway, one of our sponsors this week is Eureka Stamps and is kind enough to allow us to use some of their images to highlight this week's project.  I chose this "tree image" and added some gems to it for a bit of bling...I used a white CS cut at 5.5-inch card base.  I incorporated a textured white CS and embossed it with my Cuttlebug for added dimension.  I attached a red/fuschia ribbon together with a black ribbon and included some black brads. Then, I finalize the card with lots of stitching.  The sentiment inside is from CDS Stamps. So, come and join us at this week's Challenge at WAW.  You may enter with 5 different project using uplifting messages or use the featured Word Art this week.  Fabulous prizes awaits the winner and from now on, we will be selecting the Top 3 artwork each Challenge week.   At the end of the month, all these winners will have a chance to win a set of Digi images from Daydream Designs.  Wow, that's more chances to win, right?

  1. What a striking card, Jo Ann! I love the simplicity of the silhouette to make this bold statement of trust. As always, your post is thought provoking and doctrinally on target. I LOVE the Jeremiah verse to compliment our verse for this week. Who wouldn't want to trust our God? Sadly, too many. He is infallibly trustworthy, and I'm grateful He wooed me to His side. What a lovely card and post this week, Jo Ann. Always a delight to come here.

  10. Thanks for all you do to make WAW a success, and to share your talents and your love for our precious Savior through your art. I pray that you will be blessed as you bless others, and that God will continue to reveal His goodness, love and blessing on you as you create and share the talents He has given you. I am SO incredibly grateful to Him for allowing us to meet and create together, what a treat to have a Sister in the Lord who loves to worship Him as much as I do - and to share that love for Him through our art. I am so blessed by you, JoAnn, and SO blessed that He brought you into my life.
Big hugs and lots of prayers and praise,
