Scripture Series: Wisdom from Above Card---Join the Fun in our Inspirational/Anything Goes Challenge at Word Art Wednesday!

Happy Wednesday, everyone!  This is the final day of 2014 and want to greet you all a Blessed and Happy New Year ahead...I'm going to highlight my project for our Inspirational/Anything Goes Challenge at Word Art Wednesday (WAW)We have a wonderful Scripture Word Art that you can download for free at our WAW site and it comes from James 3:17 which says, "But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy."  I love what is shared about this verse in my Life Application Bible and want to share them with you. It states, "Have you ever known anyone  who claimed to be wise but who acted foolishly? True wisdom can be measured by the depth of a person's character.  Just as you can identify a tree by the type of fruit it produces, you can evaluate your wisdom by the way you act.  Foolishness leads to disorder, but wisdom leads to peace and goodness.  Are you tempted to escalate the conflict, pass on the gossip, or fan the fire of discord? Careful, winsome speech and wise, loving words are the seeds of peace.  God loves the peacemakers (Matthew 5:9)."

I know that this is easier said than done and all of us are guilty of escalating things to a whole new level whether intentionally or unintentionally.  The development of our character does not happen overnight.  It has to start from the same place though.  That is to repent of our sins, accept Christ as our personal Savior and Lord and  be Born-again into God's Kingdom.  We may have loads of baggage from our old life and we are to surrender them all to the Lordship of Jesus Christ so that He is able to turn them into something good.  The word of God says in Romans 8:28-29. " And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.  For whom he did foreknow , he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren."  By taking in the Word of God, we are to flushed every worldly thoughts, principles and belief system that fall short of God's standards and take in new thoughts.  Our minds need to be renewed and taking time to study the Word of God is a sure way to do it.  But it is not enough to just know about it, we have to put these Godly principles into action.  Whether we speak or act, we have to remember that both have to give glory to God.  Our accountability is first and foremost unto Him and then to one another.  The Holy Spirit works inside of us to transform us to the likeness of our Savior, Jesus Christ!  We cannot do this on our own instead, we have to be sensitive to His leading and His will in our lives at every given situation.  When you think of purity, peace, gentleness, reason, mercy, fruitfulness with fairness and transparency---you are showing forth wisdom that can solely come from above. Wisdom is a gift from God!  It is the ability to discern what is true, right, or lasting at any given situation.  Wisdom is what God will bless us with in order for us to glorify Him with the knowledge we have of Him. Want to share with you verses that helps us desire wisdom everyday:

"Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding,  for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold."  (Proverbs 3:13-14)

"But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things--and the things that are not--to nullify the things that are,  so that no one may boast before him.  It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God--that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.  Therefore, as it is written: "Let him who boasts boast in the Lord." (1 Corinthians 1:27-31)

"My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge." (Colossians 2:2-3)

For this Card, I used an image from Saturated Canary called " Princess Zella" and colored it with my ProMarker/Prismacolor markers.  The base card is a blue Core'dinations CS, cut and scored to make a 5.5 inches square card.  The flowery DP is from Paper Studio, the laces from my stash and the white nail head gems from Imaginisce.  I embossed one of the panels using a Paper Studio folder and ran it through my Cuttlebug.  The die cuts are from Spellbinders and I layered some flowers from Prima. I added a brad in the center of the flower and used glitters (Stickles-Crystal) to add sparkle to it.  Lastly, I stitched some fancy and regular stitches  on this card.  Hope you love it!

  1. Beautiful card Jo Ann - love how you have coloured part of the panel to accent the scripture. Yes, to be a peacemaker is a constant (self) discipline, and we need to be led by God's Spirit to come anywhere near. Dying to self is the term that comes to mind. Ouch!
