My first attempt on Explosion Boxes!

Hello there, my Fellow Crafters! I have seen several Explosion Boxes made so beautifully by people on the Cricut MB and I wanted to try and make them but as usual, I didn't have much time to embark on this very detailed project. But I wanted to make a special gift for 3 of my friends for the Holidays and what a way to show them how special they were but to give them one of these...I gathered several pics that I had of them (and also pics of their kids) and these 3 boxes came to life...Aww, I am feeling tired just remembering how much time I spent detailing them. For this project, I had the help of my Gypsy to create those flower embellishments from Gypsy Wanderings...I also added more detail on the flowers and frames by using Diamond stickles...It sure helped made these boxes pop.





This was literally the very first Box I made...I like the flower but this was difficult to put together so, I was sure I was not going to use the same flower on my next 2 boxes...LOL As you can see, I used the MS Punches to decorate the lid, with ribbon and a dangling embellishment.


Here's what it looks like inside the box...Big Explosion! I matted every flaps (front and back) and placed some photos or sentiments on them...


This was the second box I created...I don't normally plan the colors before each project so, trying which colors would make it right was a challenge. I like how this turned out at the end. Did you notice the flowers were different as well...LOL! The brad that you see in the middle of the flower was made using my I-top...I love it! I just hope that the brad daddies are not too expensive as I am planning to buy more...Used a yellow ribbon here and a dangling embellishment...


Here's the inside of Box No. 2...Sorry, had to cover a couple of pics with flowers as I don't know whether my friends would love to have their pictures posted. I also matted all the flaps here (front and back)...


And here's my third box. I thought this would be quicker than the other 2 but nope, I had a difficult time figuring out what colors to use...(Sometimes, I wondered why I didn't make them all the same...but I am just not very happy duplicating stuff although every now and then, I have to especially on my son's birthday invitations). Used another MS Border Punch, nice burgundy ribbon and another dangling embellishment.

These boxes are not very hard to make but I should say, very time consuming. It took me nearly a week to complete these 3 boxes with some sleepless nights but that was because I had many things to do other than crafting...Family and communion with God be it in the Church or reading the Bible are my highest priorities. One of these days, I have to make another Explosion box for my beloved son who appreciates all my projects...

Make a Wish Cupcake card!

Hi there...It's Friday and I have several projects to share today. Although this card was made about 2 weeks ago but didn't find the time to show it here. I made this for the daughter of my friend who celebrated her 6th Birthday. I got some inspiration from a card designed by Dawn McVey from a "Card-A-Day" book. To make it my own, I did cupcakes instead of apples. (I don't like copying anyone's card, really!...I don't know, just me!) The color schemes are also different so, I was really happy with it. I colored each cupcake with Bic and Sharpie Markers (seem to be my favorite for non-people images) as they are easy for me to grab than my favorite Gamsol...I also embossed the middle cupcake with Wet look Markers (Marvy Uchida) and they did came out yummy...




Here's a pic of the card with it's matching envelope...I enjoyed making this. I thank the Lord for some inspiration that day as I was also sleepy (I was up making this till 4 AM...LOL). Hope you enjoy and would love to hear what you think...

I joined my very first challenge...

Hi Everyone! Finally, I am able to get this out (last minute...LOL) for the Dustin Pike Doodledragon Studio Challenge. All I need to do is use any Dustin Pike image (which I love a lot) to enter...Last night I was browsing at the Cricut MB and found details about the Easel Card and I fell in love with the style. The fact that the card can stand on it's own and can be displayed by the recipient is awesome (Kudos to the one who invented this). So, here's what I come up with. I cut the tree, it's layers and shadow off the SYI cartridge at 4 inches and just layered them (I used mostly DCWV card stock for the printed papers and other brands for the solid colors). The brown corner border using Cuttlebug and colored this Dino image using Sharpie and Bic Markers. The "Wild About You" words were made using acrylic paints and attached using pop dots for added dimension. I like how it turned out and hope you enjoy it too. (The brad is made by me using the I-top which holds the card in place for the Easel effect).




This is how it should look like when you hand it over to someone you love. My card is sized 5.5 X 4.25 inches. I used 3/4 of a standard size card stock (8.5 X 11"). You can make it using your own measurements and you can see a lot of tutorial about this online. Simple to make unless you want it complicated...I think I got carried away with mine...LOL




To make it more special, there's a special place for you to write your personal message (you have to slide your card all the way through).




Close-up of the pretty Dustin Pike Image and how I colored it...I also used white gelly roll pen to accentuate the images, a pretty red ribbon, a fence border punch from MS Punch and some red heart gems...



I really enjoyed doing this although creating it took me hours mainly because I don't have things planned ahead. I plan as I go. Okay, let me know what you think...I sure love to have your input...
