Today, the world is facing a giant called COVID-19 (Corona virus). And sad to say but many have succumb to fear and are doing things that godless people do in crisis. I went to buy a pack of toilet paper the other day cause were almost out but ended up with a paper towel instead because the panic buyers cleared the shelves of every tissue paper among others. There's also no wipes, bottled water, hand sanitizers and I at least understand the logic for buying more of these items, but toilet paper---really? It made me think, "Are these people going to wrap themselves with toilet paper to save themselves from the virus? But you know what, every true believer that rely upon the promises of God knows that we have God's power inside of us that not only covers and protects us but also serves as our weapon against the attacks of the enemy. Like David, we come against the giant by laying aside every fear that seek to undermine us. To be brave is not the absence of fear but just knowing how to subject that fear to the very God who has power over it. Since we have Christ in us, He enables us to walk in faith, peace and confidence in every situation knowing that His covering is not only good for this world but more importantly in the next. It's the same faith and boldness that was shown by Daniel in the lion's den and the three Hebrew men Hananiah (Shadrach), Mishael (Meshach) and Azaraiah (Abednego) in the fiery furnace found in Daniel 3. They were asked to bow down to the king of Babylon's image and had to face the punishment for their uncompromising faith not to do so. Even in the face of sure death, they believed that God is able to deliver them and those who are faithful to Him. What impacted my life the most is the response given by the three Hebrew men to King Nebuchadnezzar before they were thrown in the furnace laid out in Daniel 3:16-20 which says, “King Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.”
We sure can learn from the many examples written in the Bible that will give us wisdom in facing the issues of our day. The Corona virus pandemic have closed many facilities, businesses and halted many events in attemp to stop the spread of the virus. And now, some churches even cancelled Sunday services, Bible studies and resorted to preaching online instead. While I expect the world to succumb to fear, I am not expecting the same with the very people who professed they know God! 2 Timothy 1:7 tells us, "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." If we couldn't trust God in the midst of this one giant, how are we ever going to face the many other giants lined up our way. I believe this is the time to identify who stands by the promises of God! Whose faith is anchored in the unchanging truth of God's Word that brings victory upon His people over every work of the enemy no matter how big they may seem to be. God saved His people from death that struck every firstborn in Egypt through the blood of the lamb in their doorpost. He parted the Red Sea, provided water in the wilderness, fed them manna and meat from heaven. He was their cloud by day and fire by night and countless more written in the pages of the Bible. From Genesis to Revelation, we cannot deny the power of God to provide, protect and save His people. Jesus, the Lamb of God who took away the sins of the world covered us (His Church) with His blood shed at the Cross that assures us of our citizenship in heaven and power against all the works of the enemy. This should embolden us to live free from the chains that the enemy is engulfing the world today. While the ungodly are running around like chickens with their heads cut off because they are not sure of what tomorrow will bring, God's people should live as beacons of light to point them to the One who is all knowing (Omniscient) and always in Control---God Almighty! Let us not forget that the same power that raised Jesus from the dead lives inside every single one of us who gave our lives to Christ and no giants sent by the enemy can destroy us when we operate in His power. I suggest you read this ARTICLE for more information on "How Can We Rely on the Power of God." It will truly bless you.
For this Card, I used an image from DRS Designs called "Western Dancing Couple" that I watercolored using Distress Inks. The base is Kraft, cut and scored to make a 5.5 inches square card. The DP's are from Paper Studio, the flowers that I layered are from Prima, the brad from Recollections and the leaves are punched with Fiskars punch. I also added some glitters from Stickles (Crystal) and some stitching all over this project. Pretty cute!
